Terms of Service

You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. If you use Veilled for an organization, you confirm you're authorised to accept these terms on its behalf. You may not use the service if we've previously terminated your account.

You sign in with a passkey, a Google account or a one-time code — there is no password to lose. Keep control of the devices and contact methods attached to your account; anything done through it is treated as done by you. Tell us at support@veilled.com if you think someone else has access. Your handle belongs to the service, not to you, and we may reclaim one that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark or sits unused.

Other users don't see who you are unless you reveal yourself in a conversation. Revealing is deliberate, per-conversation, and permanent for that conversation — you cannot un-reveal.

Don't try to unmask another user through technical means, correlation of message contents, or pressure — and don't claim to be someone you're not.

Anonymity is not cover. You may not use Veilled to:

• Harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone.
• Post hate speech, or content that attacks people over race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or similar characteristics.
• Sexualise minors in any way, or share sexual content involving anyone who hasn't consented to it.
• Encourage self-harm or suicide, or glorify violence.
• Blackmail, defraud, phish, or impersonate another person or organization.
• Share someone's private information — address, phone number, workplace, documents — without their consent.
• Spam, bulk-message, advertise, or send unsolicited messages to contacts who never asked to hear from you.
• Break the law, infringe someone's intellectual property, or violate someone's privacy rights.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, overload, probe or circumvent the service's limits, safety systems or authentication.

Every message passes an automated safety check before delivery. A message that fails is held back and you're shown why, with a suggested edit. We also act on user reports. We may remove content, limit features, suspend or terminate an account, and in serious cases report to law enforcement. We aim to be proportionate and to explain our decisions, but we don't pre-screen or guarantee that everything on Veilled is lawful or accurate.

You may send a message to an email address or phone number. Doing so, you confirm you obtained that contact detail legitimately and are entitled to contact the person. We deliver a claim link on your behalf; the recipient learns that someone messaged them, not who. Misusing this to spam or harass is a straightforward breach of section 4.

Credits pay for delivering a message to someone who isn't on Veilled, because that delivery costs us an email or an SMS. Replying inside a conversation is always free. Credits are a limited licence to use a feature, not money: they have no cash value, can't be transferred or exchanged, and expire when your account closes.

A credit is spent when you send, because that is when we attempt delivery. It is not returned if the recipient never claims the message. Except where the law says otherwise, credits are non-refundable once spent.

Group creators and organization admins control membership and settings for their space, and are responsible for who they invite. Anonymity inside a group works the same way it does one-to-one, but be aware that in a very small group, context can narrow down who wrote something. Admins can remove members and content in their space; we can remove the space itself.

What you write stays yours. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, display and process it — only as needed to run Veilled, screen it for safety, and deliver it to the people you sent it to. That licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies retained under the Privacy Policy or for legal and safety reasons.

The Veilled name, design, software and marks are ours. These terms give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the service, and nothing more.

Veilled is in a pilot release. Features can change or be withdrawn, and there may be downtime, bugs and data loss. We'll give reasonable notice before ending the service or removing something you rely on, but we don't promise uninterrupted availability.

You can stop using Veilled at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if your use puts others at risk, or if we're required to. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — content licence for retained copies, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law — do.

Veilled is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't control what other users send, and we're not responsible for it. Nothing here excludes liability that can't be excluded by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 100.

You'll cover our reasonable losses, costs and legal fees arising from your misuse of the service, your content, or your breach of these terms or of anyone else's rights.

We'll post updates here and change the date at the top. Material changes come with notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Veilled afterwards means you accept them.

These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes — except where mandatory consumer law in your country of residence gives you the right to sue locally. Please write to us first: most disputes are settled faster that way.

If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. Our failure to enforce something isn't a waiver of it.
